WORKSHOP GUIDE - SESSION 4

GIMP & OpenVINO

Professional AI Editing: Inpainting, Masking, and Upscaling.

Part 1: Key Concepts

Inpainting (Masking)

Inpainting is the art of "filling holes". You select an area (the hole/mask), and the AI hallucinates new content to fit seamlessly, using the surrounding pixels as context.

Super Resolution

Upscaling a low-res image by 4x. Unlike traditional resizing (which gets blurry), AI Super Resolution hallucinates new details like skin pores and brick textures to make it sharp.

Part 2: The Lab - "Photo Rescue"

The Mission

A client has given you a damaged, low-resolution vacation photo. Your job is to remove the scratches, add a cool accessory, change the background, and upscale it to 4K for printing.

Assets

You can use any image, or the sample provided:

Part 3: The Prompt Library

Level 1: The Repair (Inpaint)

Goal: Remove the scratch/tear.

clean background, remove scratch, seamless texture
Tip: Select slightly more than the scratch to give the AI context.

Level 2: The Accessory (Generative Fill)

Goal: Add sleek sunglasses.

cool aviator sunglasses, reflection of city, cinematic lighting
Tip: Set 'Denoising Strength' to 0.7 or 0.8. Too low = blurry. Too high = ignores your selection shape.

Level 3: The Background Swap

Goal: Move them to Paris.

Eiffel tower in background, blurred bokeh, sunny day, paris street, architectural detail

Level 4: The Upscale

Goal: Make it Print-Ready.

(No Prompt Needed. Just select 'Super Resolution 4x' in the plugin menu.)
